Doggie Blog

Since my blog was rapidly becoming a dog blog, I decided to go ahead and give Phoebe and Holden one of their own. You can check it out here. Enjoy!

More Phoebe!

Here are some photos from today's visit with Phoebe. We were hoping to take her home with us soon, but it turns out she's being treated for a mild case of kennel cough. Holden's vet wants us to wait to have the two of them under the same roof until Phoebe has taken all her meds. So, we won't be able to get her until Thursday.

It was sad to have to put her back in her kennel after visiting with her today, but we know it will only be a few days until we're all together again.

Holden enjoyed getting to shop at Petsmart with us for things for Phoebe. Of course, we couldn't resist getting him some new toys, too. Looks like we're going to have two spoiled rotten pooches in the Younger household.

Phoebe

Meet Phoebe! Craig and I visited the Durham APS yesterday and filled out the paperwork to adopt this little cutie. Yes, we had talked about adopting a 1-2 year old instead of a pup (she's ~6 months), but Phoebe looks like she was born to be Holden's little sister. (Fans of Catcher in the Rye will get the name connection.) Holden acted a bit aloof when he met her, but we think he can't help but like a dog that not only looks like him (see shot of him at 3 months below), but has a very similar personality, including his penchant for treats. Beach Dawg

This is Holden's perspective from his perch atop his Grandma Grace's porch on Topsail Beach. He particularly enjoys the wind in his fur and the view of the sound (and all the dogs walking along it). May there be no doubt that Holden is enjoying his golden years. He seems to be benefitting from my marriage almost as much as me. The beach house is his second favorite Young thing after Craig (who he now worships more than me, not that I've noticed or anything).

Holden has done an excellent job wooing his new grandma. Here he is scoring some Smart Puffs from her (photo taken stealthily through the porch door).

The only downside of visits to the beach for Holden are the baths he gets after swimming in the sound. Here he is drying off after today's bath. I think even Holden would agree it's a small price to pay for getting to romp on the beach.
