Away We Go!

Wahoo, vacation day has finally arrived! We leave in a few hours for Italy. Our path takes us by plane, train, and automobile from here to Philly to Rome to Bologna (to pick up our rental van and bikes) to our destination of Cortona. Thankfully, the beautiful Magnolia villa, with its great views of the Tuscan countryside (including this one from the garden), awaits us.

After a week of cycling and eating (repeat) in Tuscany, we'll head up to Cortina d'Ampezzo in the Dolomites. Craig was more than happy to plan out routes that take us up huge mountain passes with crazy switchbacks - one has 46 of them! Crikey!

The Barclay Girls

Last night we celebrated the marriage of Sarah Knowles and Jason Merker. Sarah was the last of the "Barclay Girls" - four of us who, in various groupings, shared a house on Barclay Road in Chapel Hill in the late '90s - to get hitched. Katie got married almost 9 years ago, and I think she was starting to worry the rest of us would be old maids. Then, in a span of 12 months, Jenn (April '06), yours truly (July '06), and Sarah (March '07) all tied the knot. Whodathunk it?

I enjoyed a He'brew - the chosen beer - to celebrate the event. Ruby, Katie's little one, also gave it a thumbs up.
